The headstone inscription notes his middle name as "Morgan." A biographical source published in 1913 mentions that the Hamilton family traveled in the 1852 Henry Bryant Manning Jolley company. The Hamilton's name is not recorded on either the published or handwritten roster of the Jolley company. It is not mentioned in any journal or narrative written by members of that company. It is possible that they joined the company after it left Kanesville and got left off the roster, but no corroborating contemporary evidence has yet been uncovered that enables us to add their name to the 1852 Jolley company with absolute certainty.
