Lois arrived in New York on 13 June 1862 via the ship Manchester, traveling with her parents, John and Jane Thomson, and her siblings, James and John Prior Thomson, along with John's wife and children. She is listed on the roster of the James Brown company as "and family" with her father. She died en route. The Deseret News article states "There was but one death by the way--a Mrs. Thompson, from England." It is likely that it refers to Lois Thomson, who was unmarried.
