Jane sailed to America in 1856 on the ship Horizon. She shared a PEF bond with her brother, James Thorn, who traveled with the Martin Company. Traveling in the company with her was her daughter, Anna Thorn.
FamilySearch "Memories" linked to Jane includes an account written by her granddaughter, Elaine McAllister Moody. In that record she states that her mother, Annie Thorne and her grandmother Jane Thorne Jemmett walked most of the way to Utah with the 1856 John A. Hunt pioneer company. Elaine would have been about 43 years old at the time her mother passed away, so she likely would have known and remembered the account of her mother and grandmother's travel to Utah.
