Julie B. Beck served at Church headquarters for nearly fifteen years, first on the Young Women General Board, then as the first counselor in the General Young Women Presidency, and finally as Relief Society general president. As a child, she lived in Brazil and learned Portuguese while her father served as a mission president there. She is a graduate of Dixie College and Brigham Young University. Beck and her husband are the parents of three children and fifteen grandchildren. Following her release from general Church service, Beck accepted an appointment from Governor Gary Herbert to serve on the Board of Trustees of Dixie State College.
This event is part of the 2013 Men and Women of Faith lecture series sponsored by the Church History Library. Lectures are held the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square, 50 North West Temple. Validated parking is available at the Conference Center. As you enter the Conference Center parking, inform the attendant that you are going to a lecture and ask for a token to use when you exit.
