The first foreign player to land a spot on Argentina’s national basketball team was Latter-day Saint missionary Rolf Larson, who competed in the 1940 South American championship in Uruguay. Though his team lost to Uruguay 25-23 in the final, his missionary efforts during the trip led to the opening of Uruguay for further missionary work.“
