A Book of Mormon Witness

When the Book of Mormon translation moved to the Peter Whitmer Sr. farm in Fayette, New York, late in the spring of 1829, Mary Whitmer worked hard to support the additional guests in her home. One day, her son David recalled, she was visited by an angel. “You have been very faithful and diligent in your labors,” he said, “but you are tried because of the increase of your toil. It is proper therefore that you should receive a witness, that your faith may be strengthened.” The angel then showed her the plates, making her one of the few people who saw them.
