Missionary Age Changes

    One of the most recognizable symbols of the Church today is a pair of young missionaries looking for people to teach. In the 19th century, though, it was much more common to see middle-aged missionaries. One analysis suggests that the average age of a Latter-day Saint missionary before 1900 was around 35.
