    Giving Like a Wise Man

In the pages of the Young Woman’s Journal, Joseph F. Smith encouraged families “to search out” needy families and give both necessities and “a few of the little luxuries prized so much by childish hearts” as Christmas gifts. “The wealthy will not be forgotten,” he taught, but “the gifts bestowed by the wise men of the east, when they knelt and worshiped before the manger in Bethlehem, were bestowed upon those who were poor in this world’s goods.”
