General Rules of Conduct

Cell phone use

Please do not use cell phones inside the Church History Library or its reading room. You are welcome to walk into the foyer to make and accept calls.

Cameras and hand-held copying devices

Use of cameras and hand-held copying devices is not permitted for closed-stacks materials. Please consult staff at the reference desk for permission to take photos of other materials.

Use of the Computers

The Church History Library provides public access to computers and connections to aid in research endeavors. These services are to be used in harmony with the standards of the Church and in accordance to Library policies and procedures. Personal use is limited. All individuals who use the computers must agree to abide by the policy. The Church History Library reserves the right to revoke privileges, including denying access to the facility, from anyone who violates the policy. Reading Room

Materials from the secure, collection are requested from the computers and used in the Reading Room. Individuals desiring access to this room must:

  •    Register and submit a request to view items
  •    Place all personal belongings in a locker before entering the room
  •    Present photo identification at the Reading Room Desk upon entering
  •    Understand and follow Guidelines for Using the Reading Room (Includes handling and use of materials)

Children

Children must be accompanied by an adult. No children under the age of 12 are allowed in the Reading Room.

Food and Drink

Food and drink is not permitted in the Library. Please ask at the desk for appropriate places outside to picnic or for directions to eating establishments in close proximity to the library.
