Many paradigms have shifted in New Testament studies since Elder James E. Talmage published his magisterial work Jesus the Christ 100 years ago. On the eve of Good Friday, come hear BYU law professor John W. Welch discuss current scholarship regarding the arrest, trial, and execution of Jesus of Nazareth. He will shed light on perennial questions such as, Who killed Jesus, and why? He will also explore new questions including, What does the raising of Lazarus have to do with the arrest of Jesus? What can lawyers and society learn today about civility and incivility from the handling of Jesus’s case? Why do all four Gospels give such gruesome details about the Crucifixion of Jesus?
