James H. Johnson

Evidence from emigration, newspaper and biographical sources prove that James traveled to Utah in 1857. His birth and death dates are confirmed by his gravestone. In some sources his name is "Jens Johansen." There is no contemporary roster for the Christiansen company, but a biography published during Johnson's lifetime (LDS Biographical Encyclopedia, vol. 2 was published in 1914), notes a date of his arrival in Salt Lake Valley that coincides with the arrival of that company. He may have provided that information to Andrew Jenson, the encyclopedia compiler.
